Violet Knit Jacket
StyleArc Patterns
Various ponte knits
1. Cut and sewn to pattern. Read a few reviews to be sure I put it together correctly.
2. Went together well. Armhole is like a vee tee neck.
3. If you use two fabrics for front pieces (really a facing) you may want to sew together and apply to side seams as one piece to avoid tacking or topstitching to keep facing in place.
4. Would like to try in solid knit.

Felted Jacket
Burda 7700 View B
Felted fabric
1. Many options for pattern. Quick to cut out and sew. Knit or woven pattern with the appropriate facings and instructions depending on choice of fabric.
2. Clear directions, great fit on the neck band.
3. Oversized but fun and comfy to wear.

Fleece and Zig Zag
Simplicity 8058
Luxe Fleece and ponte
1. Made to pattern but the fit of the collar was so disappointing-it curved into head and didn’t fold easily, also very large- that I cut it down to match Burda pattern and added the contrast to the collar.
2. A closer fit pattern with more of a traditional fit sleeve but still slightly wider in shoulders. Won’t try again.
More Fleece Fun?
Vogue 1319
Luxe Fleece
1. Working with the thick fleece presented some problems. I opted to use the sewing machine several times because it could handle the bulk.
2. Took in pattern under arms and cut down collar.
3. Used ponte for facings and stitched down.
5. Very warm and could be a car coat.
Debbie’s Garments:
Silk Batik Ruffle Tunic: Simplicity 8264, View A, Cynthia Rowley
Pattern and Fabric Changes:
1. Shortened front, back and sleeves one inch.
2. Cut shirttail hem and added side slits.
3. Pattern instructs a finished bias neck edge and then making a narrow hem on one long edge of ruffle. The ruffle is to be gathered and then the neck edge is lapped over the ruffle and stitched to neck edge. Instead I clean finished the short edges of the ruffle then pressed ruffle wst, gathered cut edge and then sandwiched the ruffle between the neck edge and bias binding. I used the same technique for the sleeve ruffles but eliminated the bias binding.
Holiday Tee: McCalls 6864.
Pattern and Construction Changes:
1.Tee front is cut on the bias from washable wool. Sleeves, back and neck band are stretch velvet.
2. The front side seams were straightened and a shirttail hem was cut.
3. I found placing the woven against the feed dogs on serger or sewing machine worked best to ease the knit with the woven.
Easy Knit Dress: Deer and Doe Arum Dress #DOO19
Pattern and Construction Changes:
1. The pattern is calls for light weight woven fabrics but I wanted to try it in a knit.
2. For my muslin I shortened the length one inch and eliminated the bust pocket.
3. After evaluating the muslin, I added back the length, raised the front neckline 1 and 1/2 inches and took in the seam allowance under the arm 1/2 inch.
4. A very easy, fun and quick dress to make. The princess seams in the back give the dress shaping and I think it looks better in a knit.
